eScription Ranked #1 in Dictation, Transcription & Speech Recognition Category by KLAS Enterprises
June 25, 2004 (Boston, MA) - eScription, Inc., the leader in Computer Aided Medical Transcription (CAMT) software announced today that it has been recognized as the #1 vendor in the category of Dictation, Transcription & Speech Recognition by KLAS Enterprises, a market intelligence firm. The #1 ranking for eScription appeared in the Top 20: KLAS Mid-Year Report Card for 2004, which provides a summary of Healthcare Information Technology product performance data collected from customers in the 13 months between April 15, 2003 and May 15, 2004. The firm's two step process includes direct vendor/product evaluations in 40 performance areas, and confidential interviews to validate the data and obtain commentary.
eScription and its EditScript™ solution, which includes robust components for dictation, speech recognition and transcription, received the highest overall score among all vendors in the category, and ranked 14.7% higher than its closest competitor. Of 40 performance criteria evaluated, eScription ranked first in 39 out of 40 criteria. This means that eScription received the highest ranking of all comparable vendors in nearly every area evaluated, ranging from 'lived up to expectations,' to quality of implementation, to system response times.
As documented in the report, 100% of the respondents said that they would buy the product again and 100% said that they would recommend it to a colleague. 100% felt that eScription keeps its promises. The EditScript solution also received the highest rankings among comparable products in two key summary criteria identified by KLAS: Technology Easy to Implement/Support and Works as Promoted. Further, EditScript was one of the top three highest rated products among all the products ranked in the 23 healthcare IT market segment categories evaluated by KLAS for this mid-year report.
The EditScript solution from eScription is designed exclusively to increase the productivity of medical transcription, and is based on the simple premise that it is faster to edit than to type. Clinicians dictate as usual, but instead of having their dictations typed from scratch, EditScript creates accurate and fully formatted first drafts that medical transcriptionists (MTs) quickly review and edit.
At the heart of EditScript, CAMT software converts medical dictations to text; interprets and formats the draft records; and provides an efficient editing interface for MTs. Typically, MTs who edit can do so twice as fast as they can type a document from scratch. The EditScript solution is being used enterprise-wide at many hospitals and clinician groups supporting transcription for numerous medical specialties and worktypes. "We are delighted to be recognized with the #1 ranking from KLAS based on surveys and interviews with our customers," stated Ben Chigier, Co-CEO of eScription, Inc. "It is very gratifying to affirm what we strive for, which is that our users are obtaining value from our products and are happy with the service we provide to them."
